Miskawaan - Villa Acacia
Although one of the smaller properties on the estate (see also Villa Waterlily and Villa Hibiscus), Acacia’s spacious U-shaped design means families or small groups won't feel cramped. Wandering through the verdant gardens is an integral and pleasing part of a stay, whether gathering for meals in the open-sided dining area, nipping off for a dip in the pool or heading to the villa’s private gym to keep your muscles toned.
A chat with the efficient villa manager over your complimentary continental breakfast will determine the day's dining agenda, and the varied in-villa (priced) menu featuring a tempting array of Thai and western favourites will mean that only committed foodies need worry about making restaurant reservations. For special meals or celebrations, you can also hire a personal chef to prepare a tailored feast or serve up surf and turf from the built-in barbecue.
Staying on a managed estate means security guards and maintenance teams are on call and in the estate office the English-speaking estate manager is always ready to accommodate special requests, give advice and make informed recommendations.
Mae Nam beach is one of the island's longest, and the area is much quieter than Samui's more developed west coast, making Villa Acacia an appealing choice for those in search of a peaceful yet comfortable beach retreat.

A private road backs the Miskawaan estate's eight oceanfront properties, with each villa boasting its own parking area. Acacia's bedrooms, private gym and spacious living and dining areas are spread across four pavilions, with separate staff quarters and a service kitchen at the rear. The pavilions surround a landscaped garden and are connected by covered terracotta-tiled walkways.
The living pavilion, containing the lounge, dining area and kitchen, occupies the entire right side of the villa and also features a dedicated media lounge. Inside, cool tiled floors and furnishings made from natural materials are complemented by Asian statuettes and colourful cabinetry. The living area extends out from the well-equipped kitchen and breakfast bar onto a dining area that can seat up to ten people and an open lounge space with rattan sofas and an armchair poised for viewing the flat-screen TV. Sliding doors from here open into the dedicated movie den with pull-down projector screen and extravagant, built-in wine fridge.
Villa Acacia’s three guest bedrooms (one double, two twins) slide open onto the central garden, while the master suite occupies the front of the villa's left-hand side pavilion, the only bedroom offering direct sea view. Each bedroom has wooden floors and features a small table and two chairs and all boast ample built-in storage, plus ensuite bathrooms with tubs and glassed-in rain showers. Low-noise air conditioning and black-out curtains ensure restful sleep for every guest. A further bedroom has been converted into a fully equipped garden-view gym with exercise machines, circuit training equipment and free weights.
For outdoor pleasures, the wide garden area that fronts the beach includes a 13m pool, plus a small lawn with two cushioned sun loungers for tanning sessions. A wooden terrace in front of the movie lounge connects to a spacious, covered beach terrace with a day bed and outdoor table and chairs poised to drink in the views. A built in brick barbecue unit makes this the perfect spot for alfresco meals.
