Ambalama
Ideal for couples and groups who will love the conviviality of this villa and equality of its four bedrooms, families will also find this intimate beach pad a very relaxing and convenient base since the closest beaches are also the best in the region for swimming. There is plenty to see and do in the local area from visits to Galle Fort, ancient temples and inland rainforests to diving, whale watching and fishing. A good selection of restaurants are on your doorstep should you wish to leave the villa however most guests choose to stay in so that they can relax in comfort, unwind in peace and imbibe their favourite tipple whilst relishing the culinary delights of the chef's freshly cooked fusion cuisine (provisions on guest account). The menu is excellent and the chef truly one of the best of any villa around.
Ambalama is a fully serviced villa and with such an able team to look after you, keep the house clean and tidy and shop on your behalf, menial chores are forgotten and you can make the most of your holiday. The entrance to Ambalama is across stepping stones that take you into an open-plan living and dining area with soaring timber ceilings, cool terrazzo floors and louvered doors that open directly onto the broad terrace of the Balinese swimming pool.
To the left side of this area is a cosy lounge with cushioned sofa seating, whilst to the right is a circular dining table for eight. A pair of matching antique cabinets brims with enough books to keep you occupied whilst on holiday. To either side of this living space are two bedrooms which open directly onto the sea-view terrace and garden.
The bedrooms to the far right and far left of Ambalama are identical in design and offer more of a taste of tropical living since their bathrooms feature a gorgeous outdoor shower with enclosed sand and stone garden. As well as king-size four-poster beds dressed with high-thread-count cotton bed linen and mosquito nets, these bedrooms also have built-in wardrobes, rattan chairs and a cushioned window seat that can double up as an extra bed if necessary. There is also access to a private side terrace.
The second set of bedrooms are just a tiny bit smaller than the ones above but are almost identical in design – minus the window seat, private side terrace and outdoor shower. To the left is a twin bedroom with two four-poster beds whilst the room to the right has a king-size four-poster bed. Both of these bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms with twin washbasins and a shower.
Each bedroom is accessed via stunning antique Balinese carved temple doors, whilst a trio of louvered French windows provide direct access to the front terrace and garden. When the doors or just the louvers are open, they offer a very adequate breeze although all bedrooms are fitted with both air conditioning and fans.
To the rear of the property is an equipped kitchen which has been furnished with imported stainless steel worktops suitable for the western cook.
