Jivana - Villa Ananda

  • Location: Natai Beach-Phang Nga
  • Number of bedrooms: 6
The pristine waters of the Andaman Sea wash languidly on white sands of Natai Beach; the eighty metres of beach frontage, the contrast of colour, the smell of the sea air, the blooming lotus flowers and fragrant frangipanis are just a taste of what the Villa Ananda experience offers.

The entrance to this magnificent villa is through double teak doors, where you are greeted by the serene sound of the reflection pool. The entire property is focused around the 'Great Room' which offers an open breezy (air-conditioned if necessary) comfortable lounge and dining area to enjoy the views, a drink, fine dining (the Thai chef can do Western or Asian - chef service is charged extra and should be arranged at least 3 days prior to arrival) and good company. Large glass doors slide back to give a lovely indoor/outdoor ambience.

Almost a square kilometre of grounds are perfectly manicured and subtly landscaped to maximise the breathtaking blue beyond. The design and layout give the feeling of an exclusive private resort. Outdoor areas are perfect for enjoying the spectacular views and there are a range of options for the essential sunset cocktail from the 12-seater sunken poolside sala, to lawn-side daybeds or beachfront sala (gazebo); which also provides the perfect space for a relaxing massage (costs extra). The immaculate lawns frame a decadent black-tiled 25m pool which washes into a second 15m shallow pool for children.

All five main bedrooms are housed in individual, west-facing pavilions and enjoy full ocean views. The sixth is a wonderfully practical children’s room complete with two bunk beds and nanny quarters. The bedrooms are furnished in a minimalistic and understated style with large ensuites and luxurious full glass doors that open onto magazine-style gardens adorned with orchids.

As at sister Jivana villas, Shanti and Jia, three full-time staff, dedicated villa manager/concierge service, chef, security and a small army of maintenance staff ensure that guests enjoy a truly six star holiday experience. Shopping is even done for you (on account) and there is an in-villa wine selection. No hotel could offer privacy, space, service and location to match Villa Ananda.

Villa Ananda is an expansive single level property. The entry is understated and it is only when rounding the marble reflection pool that the true scope of the villa becomes apparent. To the right is a fully-equipped kitchen, but with a comprehensive international menu and in-house chef, there is little need to venture. To the left is the entertainment room, an ideal haven for catching up on world events, watching videos and strategising over a chess game. The centrepiece of the property is the Great Room which, at a luxurious 12m x 6m, entices guests to sit and relax in an open-plan, exotic lounge and dining room.

On either side of the living areas in front of the lawns are the bedroom pavilions. All five main bedrooms are a comfortable 36sqm designed in an open sala concept with glass sliding doors on all sides. The master suite includes an office. Four of the rooms have queen beds; the fifth is a twin room. Teak floors and blinds and white linens provide a crisp clean feel to the bedrooms which all enjoy full sea views. The bathrooms are superb and perpetuate the outdoor living focus with gardens and glass surrounds. Pristine white, silver and glass, the ensuites are accented by purple orchids and tropical greens of the gardens. Custom-made toiletries are supplied by Phuket’s aromatherapy specialists, Lemongrass. The children’s room is a brilliant concept with two sets of bunks and nanny’s quarters - safe, practical and fun but sufficiently far away from the other living areas to ensure that the peace of the holiday is not interrupted.

The outdoor living and relaxation areas are spectacular. English-style lawns are spotted with shading coconut palms and colourful frangipanis. There is ample outdoor seating on daybeds or in the sunken sala, both poolside. Beachside is another shady sala.

While televisions are only available in the family and children’s’ rooms, the villa is wired for music with ipod bays and internet access. All rooms have fan or air-conditioning options. Living areas have a healthy supply of books, magazines and videos.
