Andaman View Villa

  • Location: Nai Harn
  • Number of bedrooms: 4
One of a handful of villas within the Baan Sawan private estate, Andaman View offers sweeping vistas across southern Phuket from its perch high in the hills of Nai Harn. Its four air conditioned bedrooms each feature panoramic ocean and valley views and ensuite bathrooms, while a further bedroom set in a self-contained suite comfortably accommodates a nanny, or perhaps a couple of teenagers seeking some independence. Guests at Andaman View are likely to spend much of their time basking in the sun and enjoying the balmy tropical breezes on the spacious pool deck, which is equally inviting at night when the lights of Nai Harn twinkle in the valley below, and the villa’s telescope comes into its own for stargazing. Inside, there are plenty more diversions to keep guests of all ages enthralled. At the heart of the villa is the large games and living room with pool and tennis tables, a home theatre and a bar where a bottle from the villa’s wine selection might be popped open in celebration. Upstairs, a cosy media room and a second living room offer yet more space to relax and play.

On arrival, guests are met by the villa manager who, although based off site, checks in regularly to make sure all is well. She can help organise extra services such as car rental, babysitting, massages, taxi service and tours. Complimentary services include in-villa laundry and airport transfer as well as breakfast and lunch prepared daily by the villa’s cook—housekeeper (guests pay only for provisions at cost). Alternatively, evening meals may be arranged in place of lunch for a small extra charge. A stylish fitted kitchen may tempt keen visiting chefs in, but most guests will probably be happy to admire it over a cup of coffee at the breakfast bar.

Nai Harn, one of Phuket’s prettiest white-sand beaches, is only one kilometre away. There are plenty of dining options at the beach and in Nai Harn village, from simple noodle shops to upscale Italian, French and other international restaurants. Those wishing to explore will love cruising these coastal roads on Phuket’s southernmost tip, which lead to some of the island’s most picturesque lookout points and lesser-known beaches.

Andaman View is well designed to ensure that the breathtaking view can be admired from virtually every room. On the top level, which is accessed via a stone pathway leading across lotus ponds, a formal living room furnished with a U-shaped brown leather sofa and coffee table opens widely onto a covered terrace where the stunning ten-metre infinity pool is flanked by four comfortable teak sun loungers. Alfresco meals can be enjoyed at the eight-seater dining table set to one side of the terrace (perhaps prepared on the barbecue which is neatly positioned at the other side). Behind the living room is the modern, smartly fitted kitchen with breakfast bar where the villa cook works her magic. Off to the side is a cosy media room furnished with a plush cotton sofa and featuring a 50-inch TV and Bose music system. The large master bedroom and a second, slightly smaller master suite flank the living room, each featuring king-size beds, vaulted ceilings, walk-in wardrobes, generous ensuites with jacuzzi bathtubs and glass-fronted balconies connected to the pool terrace.

Heading downstairs via the grand curving staircase, you arrive at the games room, with its own sitting area, a pool table, tabletennis and a home theatre with 54-inch TV. Along the front of this vast space, which has spectacular views from floor-to-ceiling windows, is a large bar and two high tables – just the spot to quench your thirst after a demanding game of pool. This lower level of the villa also houses a king-bedded room and a bedroom with twin beds, each with ensuite bathrooms and private balconies. On the balcony of the king-bedded room is a teak lounge corner and a massage bed for enjoying an in-villa treatment, while the twin-bedded room has the villa’s largest walk-in wardrobe and a seating area on its balcony. All bedrooms are air conditioned and have ceiling fans. Towards the back on this level is another ensuite king-bedded room with loads of space but no view. This room also boasts its own small kitchen, equipped with a mini-fridge, stove and two-seater dining table, which could be a handy place for preparing snacks and coffee to serve guests in the adjacent games room.

Andaman View is bright, vibrant and tastefully furnished with a blend of modern and traditional teak pieces. The rich wooden flooring across the entire top floor lends an added sense of luxury and warmth, while Thai silks and intricate decorations add colour and character to this stylish and comfortable holiday home.
