Villa Azaya

Azaya means a resting place or retreat, and this classy villa is exactly that. Set upon a generous 2000 square metres of land between the sweeping Seminyak beach and the fashionable restaurant street known as Jalan Petitenget, this place is huge, stylish, fun, and so well-positioned that you can see all of Bali’s volcanic peaks from the upper terraces, while hearing the ocean from everywhere else.

Azaya’s indoor-outdoor design and understated decor is effortlessly cool, with oodles of space, and copious communal areas designed for entertaining or being entertained, both formal and otherwise. From the grown-up gourmet setting of the downstairs dining room, to the garden balé (relaxation pavilion), to the poolside bar, to sunset cocktails on the rooftop, accompanied by a home entertainment system that delivers sound all around; guests are simply spoiled for choice.

The two master bedrooms are super-conducive to both slumber and seduction, while the vast and sexy bathrooms could almost be categorised as living rooms. Additionally, there is a fully-self-contained guesthouse at the bottom of the garden, which provides the perfect solution to a multi-generational holiday: complete with two bedrooms and its own living room and kitchen, this guest pavilion is delightfully styled and accessed via a small wooden bridge spanning a pond. Throw in a big 20-metre family-friendly pool, an exquisite lawn and a gym with all the bells and whistles, and what more could a villa offer? A secret doorway to the beach perhaps? And personal staff to cater to your every whim? You’ve got it!

Kids will love the garden and pool, and the villa is a stone’s throw from the surf. It’s also a great party venue; you could hold a medium-to-large-sized wedding here … and there’s heaps of parking. With its high-tech facilities and an excellent chef who will prepare international and local dishes from the menu or via a grocery purchase system, guests may not feel any need to go out. Yet the villa is right on the doorstep of the celebrated restaurants, bars and beaches that people come to Bali to experience.

To sum it all up, Azaya is a cool king-size abode in a fabulous fun-filled location.

Villa Azaya comprises a large two-storey building complemented by a fully independent, single-storey guesthouse, a well-equipped stand-alone gym, pool bar, garden gazebo and an expansive flat lawn with a 20 x 5m swimming pool.

The main building houses the two huge master bedrooms, located on the upper floor and each complemented by a dressing area, massive bathroom, and a rooftop terrace. Each is furnished with a king-size bed, one of which can be converted into twins, a desk, daybed and a 32-inch TV. The master bathrooms have soaking tubs with handheld showers, while one has the additional facility of a huge walk-in rainshower. There is also a cosy semi-open-air sitting room/library positioned on the landing, comfortably furnished with sofas, and equipped with a computer and fax printer. Downstairs, a small bedroom offers a double bed and ensuite bathroom fitted with a walk-in rainshower.

The poolside living room is a delight, offering the choice of air-conditioned comfort or tropical living with glass doors on two sides that can be fully opened to invite the garden indoors. The room is characterised by a cool tiled floor, elegant furnishings and a large satellite TV with DVD player and Nintendo Wii.

Azaya offers two dining venues: the casual choice is an open-sided balé in the garden, with rattan sofas and a table for eight, while a more formal setting is the spacious air-conditioned dining room with its table for 12. Here, sliding glass doors open onto the pool terrace on one side and a walled courtyard on the other flanked by an ornamental pond; at the far end is a fully-equipped, feature kitchen.

The self-contained guest house offers privacy on the far side of the garden, with two bedrooms (one with a king-size bed, and the other with a king that can be converted to twins) and a centrally positioned, open-sided, living and dining area, equipped with a satellite TV/DVD player and a table for six, plus a small kitchen. Each bedroom has a 26-inch TV and ensuite bathroom with an open-air shower.

The extensive walled garden wraps around the swimming pool, which is bordered by a wide timber deck with a pool bar.
