Villa Bali Bali Two

  • Location: Umalas-Kerobokan
  • Number of bedrooms: 2
Villa Bali Bali Two is a fascinating building characterised by angular ironwood shingle roofs, textured stones and a neutral colour scheme that reflects its surroundings. Having its own spacious grassy garden, with swimming pool whose shape perfectly complements the dramatically sloping diagonal roof, this cosy two-bedroomed villa is not only ideal for a family but also intimate enough for a pair of love birds yearning for a little time on their own. The villa is fully staffed so you don’t have to worry about cooking, cleaning or security, but since it’s done by such a discreet team of individuals you’ll hardly notice that they’re there.

Overlooking the serene vista of Balinese rice fields in sleepy Umalas, Bali Bali Two is one of a trio of villas that are self-contained and utterly private. Little pathways winding around tropical bushes connect the three villas that share a dramatic architectural design that is often featured in architectural digests and coffee table books. Interiors are simple, minimal and rustic with basic luxuries that emphasise total relaxation. Bali Bali Two can be rented in conjunction with the other two Bali Bali Villas to provide extended accommodation for large families and groups. Although the villas are only a stone’s throw away from one another, they offer plenty of peace and privacy too.

Stones define Bali Bali Two along with its distinguished roof design. From grey textured walls to polished pebble floors, smooth white stone gardens and rough giant stepping slabs atop lotus ponds, there’s lots of variety to admire. Even in the bathrooms the sinks are made of marble. Bedrooms and bathrooms are angled for maximum privacy so that although showers are placed in front of huge glass windows your decency is never in doubt! With a fully-equipped kitchen ideal for self-caterers, and a wonderful chef for the kitchen-shy (groceries on guest account), you might like to stay in and enjoy this villa’s perfectly restful location, though it’s only five kilometres from Seminyak and a ten-minute drive to the beach.

The villa is entered across giant stepping stones seemingly floating atop a pretty lily pond shaded by a pair of frangipani trees. Stone steps lead down from the entrance into an open-plan living area furnished with generous built-in white sofa seating that peeps out at the pool and garden from beneath a roof that ascends from almost ground level to ceiling height as it reaches across the length of the room. Polished coconut shell lamps provide a seductive glow at night whilst a ceiling fan helps to keep you cool. A mezzanine lounge area furnished with a simple sofa for two facing a cabinet with TV and DVD player is reached up some wooden steps from the villa entrance. There’s also a WiFi connection here.

To the rear of the stone-floored living area is a sunken dining area that juts out to the side of the villa. Giving you ample opportunity to admire the awesome angles of the roof as it protrudes out to one side over a tranquil lily pond, there’s seating here for four under a glass roof; to all intents and purposes it feels just like you’re dining outside. There’s a mini fridge concealed in a cabinet here whilst an angled, seemingly secret corridor leads off to the rear to a guest toilet and fully-equipped kitchen with storeroom.

Both of the air conditioned bedrooms are located on the ground floor, down opposing diagonal hallways from the living room. To the front of the villa is a double bedroom with views over and direct access onto the swimming pool terrace where sun loungers await you. Closet space lines the hallway whilst an ensuite bathroom at the far end has twin marble sinks and a shower looking over the side garden.

Towards the rear of the villa is the master bedroom which has a similarly sized bedroom with a more private outlook over the side garden, which it has direct access to through sliding glass doors. There’s a sunken jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, as well as a shower and single marble sink. Both bedrooms have plenty of cupboard storage and uniquely their bathrooms come with air conditioning too.

In the garden there’s a small balé (relaxation pavilion) with cushioned seating for alternative lounging.
