Villa Beatrice

  • Location: Seminyak
  • Number of bedrooms: 3
Beatrice is a sweet three bedroom wooden villa tucked away in popular Petitenget. As soon as you enter her doors down the little gang (laneway) off the main drag you feel like you have come home. She is rustic, simple, friendly but charming – a great place to unwind after hitting the pavements of nearby Seminyak with its huge variety of trendy shops, bars, restaurants and night life.

Built of dark teak and with a spacious tropical garden, this two-storey villa offers a Balinese experience that is not over-stated or pretentious. It’s a great place for the kids to run around and has an 8 x 4m pool for when it’s time to cool off.

The villa is by no means luxurious but the bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas are practical and functional, allowing guests to relax knowing they are not going to mess up the white suede furniture found in many of today’s modern villas.

A basic yet fully equipped kitchen provides everything self-caterers will need, but with the huge variety of restaurants on the doorstep, it’s very tempting to eat out or, alternatively, to order in from the extensive dining menu available from Bali Epicure, the renowned 24/7 luxury food and spa service. The friendly housekeeping staff are available eight hours a day, and although they speak little English, the villa manager is only a phone call away.

Beatrice is staggeringly great value for money, especially given its location, making it the perfect holiday choice for families on a budget looking for a nice place to call home.

Villa Beatrice owes its unique character to the dark teak wood from which it is constructed.

The master bedroom is reached via a flight of timber stairs leading up from the living area. This large room with high ceiling, floorboards and stained glass windows comes complete with a king-size four-poster bed, writing desk, satellite TV and DVD player, sofa and a large stack of colourful cushions. Sliding doors open from the bedroom onto a balcony which overlooks the pool and garden area.

The cobbled bathroom has a terazzo bath and separate shower with a myriad of wooden mirrors adorning one wall. A dressing room, which can be entered from both the bedroom and bathroom, contains a set of weary looking golf clubs begging for a day out on the green.

Immediately below the master bedroom is a twin-bedded room. This bedroom’s large ensuite has a huge bath for the kids with lots of sparkly mirrors and doubles as a guest washroom, with access from the living and dining area.

Nestled between the two downstairs bedrooms is the open-sided living area, sheltered by bamboo blinds and furnished with satellite TV, stereo and vibrant pink and orange sofas. Adjoining this is the dining space with its 8-seater dining table, and the simple, but well-equipped kitchen. The living and dining areas are cooled by ceiling fans.

The third bedroom, furnished with queen-size bed, lies off the dining and kitchen area and also opens out directly to the pool. This room comes with satellite TV with a slightly smaller bathroom. Each bedroom is air-conditioned and all the beds are fitted with mosquito nets.

Every room at Villa Beatrice overlooks the large well manicured garden and 8 x 4m pool, which has a small circular shallow section at one end. Guests can admire the huge fan palms and other tropical plants as they enjoy a drink at the four-seater outdoor table in this quiet garden setting. There’s even a poolside shower (a prize should be given to whoever finds the tap hidden amongst the stones!)
