Brockenhurst
Brockenhurst is encircled by a lush garden featuring a two-tiered lawn from where you can gaze over towards town or up at Single Tree Hill. Shrubs brim neatly at the edges of the garden whilst an elevated rose bed with busy-lizzy border feels very British indeed. Under the shade of fragrant pine trees, whose feathery leaves are a popular sanctuary for visiting birds, is an excellent place for children’s ball games, a BBQ or relaxing with a book and sipping afternoon tea. Since the atmosphere of the house is very informal and because it’s yours to enjoy completely in private, it very quickly feels like home.
The house has a caretaker and cook who both reflect the warm hospitality of this hill-country town. There are limited facilities, however in the evening a fire can be lit in the lounge, transforming it into a toasty and ambient living space that invites conviviality between friends and family. Enjoy pre-dinner cocktails here before you move into the dining room to feast on a hearty meal cooked by the chef using the delicious fresh produce that this agricultural region is famous for (provisions are charged at cost price). Ideal as a base to soak up the sights of the area, Brockenhurst’s four bedrooms (two of which sleep 3-5) make it excellent value for larger families and groups of friends.

Brockenhurst is a spacious house with its four bedrooms, living and dining areas located over two floors. The entrance to the property is through a fully-glazed verandah/TV room with rattan sofa seating and windows overlooking the garden that make the most of the light and views.
In the centre of the house is a hallway with hardwood staircase. To the right, an intimate dining room with table for ten overlooks the side garden. To the left is a comfortable lounge with striped sofas and armchairs arranged atop a coconut fibre carpet which is enhanced by a rug. The fireplace brings a welcome dose of nostalgia at night when it is lit and friends and family gather for drinks and conversation whilst warming themselves by the flames. At the rear of the hallway, a corridor leads towards the back of the house to a pantry and basic kitchen and staff area.
To the far left of the hallway is a double bedroom that overlooks an intimate garden to the front of the house. It has a colourful ensuite bathroom with shower. Next to this bedroom is another bathroom, this time with mosaic tiled tub and overhead shower, designed to be used by one of the two upstairs bedrooms.
At the top of the staircase is a small reading area; whilst to the left is the master bedroom. More of a family suite since it contains two double beds and one single bed; it has views both to the front and side of the house. This bedroom has a wood-panelled cupboard, a dressing table, a fireplace (not working) and an ensuite bathroom with shower.
To the right of the reading area, the third bedroom, with both a double and a single bed, also overlooks the front and side garden. The fourth bedroom is an intimate double, which is especially cosy with its low ceiling. This bedroom has views to the side of the house. The bathroom on the first floor is closest to this double room and has a bathtub with overhead shower.
