Panoramic, sweeping vistas of Patong Bay and the Andaman Sea are generously celebrated from Villa Fah Sai’s Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired living spaces and bedrooms whose floor-to-ceiling windows and doors spectacularly frame the views. Built on an exclusive and very secluded estate on a private peninsular, this villa sits 60m above sea level, where Phuket’s liveliest resort can be seen in the distance but not heard, although it is only a ten-minute drive away. Rows of waves gently lapping below softly contrast with the headland’s rocky shoreline and verdant hills of Phuket’s mountainous interior whilst the panorama of ocean and sky (Fah Sai means "clear sky") from the upper floor patio is simply spectacular at sunset.

Fah Sai has been designed for living, and the views are best from the places where most of the living is done. The kitchen, for example, is not at the back of the property but located towards the front; it is bright and spacious and has an adjoining alfresco decked patio for dining that has the best uninterrupted 180-degree bay views of any ‘room’ in the villa. Although Fah Sai is fully serviced with a live-in housekeeper and an excellent cook who graciously take care of you during your stay, this is the kind of kitchen you might just want to spend time in – even on holiday! The lounge on the first floor widely celebrates the views as does the master bedroom and study whilst the bedrooms on the lower floor open directly onto the curved, infinity swimming pool terrace which features an iPod docking station built into the wall.

Supremely comfortable beds, squashy sofas and lounge chairs provide luxury whilst a host of facilities, including an entertainment room and optional spa, further enhance the villa’s appeal. Your guest relations officer will carry out requests from the most mundane to the more extravagant; babysitting, tee times, massages, extra security, helicopter rides, firework displays and yacht charters, to name but a few. Towering double timber doors welcome you into a stretched lounge with spectacular bay views through floor-to-ceiling windows over an onyx-tiled reflecting pond. With generous sofa seating, bookshelves, a bar and a raised dining area to the far end, the subtle changes in roof and floor heights give definition to the spaciousness of the room.

To the right of the lounge is the large king-bedded master bedroom which celebrates western luxuries such as soft carpeted flooring, a sunken lounge with wall-mounted plasma screen satellite TV and DVD player, an office with incredible views and a spacious walk-in closet. The bedroom has its own private entrance and a back staircase leading to the fifth bedroom. The attached bathroom has a shower and twin washbasins.

Beyond the lounge to the front of the villa is a fully-equipped western-style kitchen which is big, sociable and light, with a centre island, plenty of work tops and a breakfast nook. The attached decked patio has the best unobstructed views and is perfect for alfresco all-day dining.

On the lower floor are four bedrooms, the swimming pool and entertainment room. To the right of the staircase is a second master bedroom with king-size bed, dressing room with built-in cupboards, lounge chair and bathroom with shower, twin washbasins and a double jacuzzi bathtub. To the front, floor-to-ceiling glass doors celebrate the views whilst, to the side, the room has its own pool access.

To the left of the staircase is a large utility room. The next two bedrooms are identical in layout. Both overlooking the expansive travertine pool deck through wide folding doors, they each have a king-size bed, built-in wardrobes and a bathroom to the rear with shower.

Beyond these bedrooms is the entertainment room with wall-mounted plasma screen satellite TV home theatre system, DVD player, Xbox 360, card table and full-sized pool table (October 2009). The final bedroom has a king-size bed and ensuite bathroom with shower accessible from the pool terrace. This bedroom can be transformed into a spa on request – there are two massage beds - and has a private back staircase to the master bedroom.
