Indah Manis

Petanque, pools (swimming and snooker) or pampering in the spa – you decide. Villa Indah Manis has been clearly set up with the family vacation in mind. There is plenty here to entertain the kids and much to relax the adults. Upstairs is dominated by an 18m infinity pool pointing out to Jimbaran Bay and Kuta far far beyond. Indoors extends seamlessly onto the outdoor entertaining area to maximise the views. The living space is open, eminently practical yet stylish - no television here when sunsets can be enjoyed at the aptly named Sunset Bar. The adjacent kitchen is fully equipped but it is unlikely the in-house chef will let cooking get in the way of a good vacation.

For television head downstairs to the Maharaja home theatre room stuffed with board games, books and a selection of DVDs. There is even a Mah Jong set with instructions. Also downstairs is a tidy little open-sided spa with massage beds and a jacuzzi plunge pool. For the more strenuous there is a tiny but very functional gym. Pool table, darts, table tennis, a study with computer, a bale (gazebo) for shade and petanque complete the lower ground floor entertainment.

Three pavilions house the four bedrooms, all with at least an ensuite shower. Named after flowers the pavilions are pleasantly bedded into a Balinese garden bursting with bougainvillea, hibiscus, codiaeum, and ixora. All air conditioned, each bedroom is tastefully finished with strong oranges, purples and greens and filled with furniture crafted from local woods. Bathrooms, although covered, have a pleasant outside garden feel. An adjoining Villa, Villa Bulan Madu, is a one-bedroom honeymoon suite and is connected to Villa Indah Manis. It can be used to make a fifth bedroom (costs extra).

A staff of 14 are included with the villa - housekeepers, 24-hour security, cooks, waiters and gardeners/engineers under the guidance of a villa manager and assistant. Apart from security, staff work from 7am to 11pm unless otherwise required. Their presence, or lack thereof, is under the guest control. Food is supplied on a restaurant menu basis and the chef will handle all the shopping. Spa services and drivers can be provided as required for additional costs.

The centre of focus of Villa Indah Manis is the living pavilion. With its vaulted bamboo-lined ceiling, whirling fans and two huge chandeliers it is a great place for dining (10) or lounging. The doors slide right back to open onto the pool terrace with sun loungers, outside dining (12) and perhaps the best place to enjoy the view, the aptly named sunset bar. Under the living area, on the lower ground floor, are the entertainment rooms – spa, gym, media, pool and study. Just behind the living pavilion is the kitchen which is fully but simply equipped.

The four bedrooms are housed in three pavilions in mature Balinese gardens behind the living areas. The prime location is taken by the master bedroom pavilion, Kamboja, with patio doors that fold back to enjoy the commanding views and a simple outside seating terrace. It is the only room with a bath; in this case step-down and circular with an overhead shower. Set back slightly is Jempiring, a twin-bedded pavilion with two additional sofa beds – a great place for the kids. A two-storey pavilion at the back of the plot houses the Allamanda and Cempaka rooms – both king-bedded. The ground floor Allamanda has a small terrace and annex room with sofas that double as single beds. Upstairs, Cempaka features a pleasant terrace with views over the other pavilion roofs out to sea. All the bathrooms have a natural garden setting feel with inside/outside ensuite showers and sinks. Villa branded toiletries and good linen are provided. The bedrooms all have mosquito nets and air conditioning. Cempaka and Kamboja also come with TVs and DVD players.

Adjacent to Villa Indah Manis but under the same management and staff is Villa Bulan Madu (Honeymooners). It is a stand-alone single roomed villa with private pool. Whilst it does have a separate entrance it can also open into Indah Manis making a natural five-bedroom combined villa (additional cost).
