Layan Estate - Villa L
The appropriately L-shaped Villa L is set around a 15m pool and garden with easily enough space for kids to let loose and run around without any obvious dangers to worry about. In the corner of the garden, a shady daybed is a great place to enjoy the sunset or escape with a book and the patio is ideal for family BBQs. Bright and airy living and dining rooms open to the gardens through sliding doors.
The four bedrooms are spread along bright corridors that form the villa’s spine. Note that they are television-free, offering small book selections for entertainment instead but, to make up for this, the living room sports a Bose sound system and projection screen TV. Within easy access of the beach and with a host of hotel facilities available at the nearby Laguna Resorts complex, families won’t run out of things to do.
Those travelling with children will benefit from two friendly full-time staff who live on the property, cooking and cleaning for guests and doing grocery shopping (on guest account). The villa complex is enclosed ensuring good levels of security. Car hire is available direct from the villa and massage services can be organised (both at extra – but very reasonable – cost).

Villa L is designed around the pool – and access to its inviting waters is easy, with sliding glass doors from the dining room, living room, and indeed the master bedroom, opening up onto the decks and terraces that surround it. When the doors are closed, the indoor dining room is fine for escaping the heat – all general living areas except the kitchen are air conditioned – but guests may prefer to dine alfresco on the terrace or the lawn beyond. The cosy living room, furnished with deep sofas and teak furniture, including a lovely planter’s chair, offers a large pull-down projection screen for watching DVDs and satellite TV and there’s also a small TV room/study next door. The kitchen is equipped with the standard mod cons and is a decent size but you might prefer to leave the cooking to the very able housekeeper.
The villa’s bedrooms are fully air conditioned and comfortable. They are tastefully designed, though minimally furnished, with nice personal touches added by the owners such as a set of oars in the master ensuite and over-sized chairs to relax in. All feature ensuite bathrooms and ample storage areas. The master bedroom is very spacious, with its king-size bed, generous walk-in wardrobe and large bathroom. A splendid terrazzo tub is an ideal spot to soak off stress when not enjoying the refreshing rain shower. This bedroom opens out onto the pool terrace at the front and a private enclosed patio at the rear.
Next door to the master, is a smaller room with twin teak beds, ideal for children. Further towards the living room, there’s a decent-sized room with king bed. This connects to the twin room via French windows and a patio shared between the two. Both of these bedrooms feature ensuites with shower. The fourth bedroom sits alone on the second floor (above the staff quarters) and features a king-size bed and a large balcony overlooking the entrance to the villa. The bathtub in its ensuite bathroom has an excellent jungle view.
