Moon Cove - Noble House
Entering Noble House through its grand double archway and stepping into the cosy living room, the villa's main attraction is quickly revealed: a fabulous, unobstructed view of Ao Yon, a lively little bay dotted with moored long-tail boats and yachts, and a pearl farm at the centre marked by strings of colourful buoys. Stretching across the front of the four-bedroomed villa is a 10.5 x 8m infinity pool where guests can indulge in a cool dip while taking in this classic tropical panorama, and in the estate’s large shared garden, coconut palms and a riot of exotic plants and trees – many carefully chosen for their aromatic appeal – complete the scene: wherever you walk you're met with a rich floral or fruity scent. Pétanque enthusiasts, meanwhile, will enjoy playing on the beachfront pitch.
The king-bedded master bedroom enjoys the best pool access and seascapes, though the views from the other bedrooms are good enough to ensure no one misses any action in the bay. As well as the four guestrooms, a separate pavilion at the back of the villa houses two 'nanny' bedrooms.
Moon Cove estate is staffed by two housekeepers and a groundsman who take care of all three villas and live in separate quarters on site. Breakfast is included in the rate and a professional Thai chef may be hired to prepare other meals for an extra charge, plus grocery costs. The modern kitchen is well-equipped for those who wish to self cater, and dining spaces include the formal dining room and a covered terrace for alfresco meals.
Larger groups can rent Noble House together with Villa Hai Leng or Villa Taipan, its neighbours on this exclusive estate.

Life's a beach here at Noble House and every room offers a view of the lush tropical surrounds and the easy-paced seafaring life of Ao Yon. Stepping into the villa from its elaborate entrance area you come first to the living room with its plush, sand-toned furnishings and a wall of windows offering grand views of the bay beyond the pool. Down the wide marble terrace steps is the infinity pool, where a couple of lounge chairs await sunbathers. Over to one side is a shaded outdoor dining area where early birds can savour their morning coffee while watching the sea set ablaze with colour at sunrise. A bright teal-tiled modern kitchen sits next to the living room, and in front of this is the elegant dining room with 12 high-backed leather chairs set around a square wooden table. Floor-to-ceiling windows stretching across two walls offer excellent sea views. Inspiration for Noble House came from the James Clavell Hong Kong saga of the same name, and it’s here in the dining room with its intricate wood panelling that the Chinese influence is most evident.
Competing for the 'best view' prize is the master suite, housed in its own private pavilion right next to the pool. Romantic and spacious, the master bedroom is furnished with a four-poster king-sized bed and a soft sofa. A large ensuite bathroom with a free-form bathtub and rain shower is reached via a walk-through dressing area. Opening directly onto the living room is a single-bedded ensuite bedroom that’s ideal for a child (another single bed or a queen bed may be moved in here if required). Down the rather grand outdoor staircase at the front of the villa are two more bedrooms with direct access to the garden, and the sands of Ao Yon only steps away. Each of these rooms features a king-size bed and ensuite bathroom with tub and rain shower. Behind the main villa is a separate building with two bedrooms situated over the four-car parking area. One is furnished with a queen-sized bed, the other with a single bed, and each is suited for a nanny or a 'spare'. Note that only the master bedroom and the single room beside the living room have air conditioning – the other bedrooms and the communal rooms have ceiling or standing fans plus clerestory windows for added ventilation.
