Villa Pursang
The living room, dining room and four bedrooms are marble-floored and accented with a mix of contemporary and antique furniture, plus antique Balinese doors and carvings, all under traditional, lofty wood-beamed ceilings. The spacious lounge area opens out onto a large, covered verandah and is a fabulous place to entertain or just sit back and enjoy the delightful rural setting. The villa is complete with an equipped kitchen, WiFi internet and a home entertainment system, and the staff (including a maid and cook, who will also do your grocery shopping) ensure that once you arrive there is really no need to leave. Villa Pursang is perfect for a family holiday: the master bedroom is situated in a separate building to the main house and shares its elegant bathroom, complete with jacuzzi, with a connecting children’s bedroom.
Tucked away amongst the rice fields on the edge of a quiet village, Villa Pursang is a little off the beaten track, yet still close enough to popular tourist areas, attractions and places of interest, to make it an ideal place to experience the rarefied atmosphere of rural Bali. The renowned surf beach at Canggu, the famous temple (and golf course) at Tanah Lot and the popular shopping, dining and clubbing district of Seminyak are all within easy reach.

Villa Pursang is interestingly landscaped into a hillside which allows the living areas on the upper level to benefit from the gentle views. The entrance brings you into an elegant, large, open-plan living area with marble floors and antique wood furniture. A contemporary L-shaped sofa dominates half the room, while a modern open-plan kitchen (equipped with hotplates, but without oven or breakfast bar), featuring teak cabinets and black granite work surfaces, lies at the other side, all under a high ceiling. A 32-inch flat-screen television with satellite channels plus a DVD player provide entertainment, along with an iPod and speakers. Glass doors along three walls lead out to the covered verandah which is home to a second lounge area. Here, an all-weather L-shaped sofa and a teak dining table (seats 8) both enjoy great views over the garden and across to the rice fields.
To one side of the main pavilion is a separate building which houses the master bedroom and a second, connecting bedroom. In keeping with the main living pavilion, the master bedroom also boasts high ceilings and marble floors. The room is furnished with a queen-size four-poster teak bed, matching side tables and a console, whilst an unusual leaf-shaped rattan bench sits below a large screen print adorned with the villa’s name. From this air conditioned room a walk-in wardrobe with safe leads to a wood-floored bathroom with standing shower and double washbasins, the focal point of which is a jacuzzi/bath by the window with garden view.
Connecting doors lead off this bathroom to bedroom two: a simple children’s room equipped with a bunk bed, matching teak console and wardrobe, plus a sofa bed. The entrance to the master suite looks across to the living room verandah and down some stone steps to the garden and two guest bedrooms on the ground level. Both guest bedrooms are identical (similar in style to the master bedroom but minus the jacuzzi in their ensuites) and have queen-size beds. These bedrooms look out through patio doors to the pool and garden. At the far side of the pool lies an elegant alang-alang (thatched) roofed bale – a perfect shady spot to enjoy the breeze while lazing on the double lounger.
