Villa Sadia
With its four ensuite bedrooms – two masters, a twin room perfect for the kids, and another guest suite completely separate from the main house (ideal for Granny and Grandpa); downstairs open-plan living/entertainment, dining and kitchen area; and another upstairs entertainment den, there’s no doubt that the owners know a thing or two about family holidays. Of course, the high chair next to the dining table and the cot in the twin room are dead giveaways, but it’s more than that: Villa Sadia almost whispers ‘family togetherness’ in your ear as you walk around.
The stairs are protected at the top by a child-proof gate. You can easily imagine the children playing on the rolling green lawn, and hear the sleepy relaxed yawns of the grown-ups snoozing on oversized loungers on the verandah. TVs are banned from the bedrooms but the two living areas boast big flat screens that draw the family out to watch movies together.
Meanwhile, poolside, is the bar: perfect for some grown-up time while still watching over the kids cavorting in the pool. After all, family holidays aren’t all about the kids… To prove it the villa staff will even organise a babysitter, allowing you to head off to sophisticated Seminyak for a change of scene.
Having said that, the delicious international and Indonesian dishes served up by the Villa’s in-house chef are definitely worth staying in for. Provisions (at cost, on guest account) are taken care of by the chef and meals are served by two of the team of nine staff, which include villa manager, security, pool and garden attendants, all keen to make sure that you are left free to enjoy a perfect, relaxed holiday.

Big on open spaces, Villa Sadia makes the very most of its views. Before you’ve even stepped into the entrance hallway you're presented with a view through large cantilevered doors, across the massive lounge area, and out onto the terrace, the pool and the rice paddies beyond.
Most of the ground floor space is taken up by an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, which opens up onto the rolling lawn through sliding glass doors. The living room boasts an enormous L-shaped couch and a flat-screen TV complete with satellite channels and entertainment system. All done in shades of light coconut wood and cream, this space is incredibly restful. The entire living area is air conditioned but is a particular delight with the doors wide open and the overhead fans on. Touches of teal blue and brown add a bit of zest. Behind the lounge section, a wood dining table comfortably seats eight with cushioned stainless seats whilst to the rear the clean-lined white kitchen is enhanced with stainless steel appliances. Out on the terrace are more massive rattan couches and a coffee table, while a gas barbeque promises long lazy evenings feasting on fresh seafood.
A door to one side of the living area leads to an ensuite master bedroom. Crisp white linens on the king-size bed are offset by stark black, grey and bright red accents. A walk-through dressing room leads to the large bathroom beyond. Situated in its own private garden - and in common with the other bathrooms at the villa - the bathroom (with tub and shower) is covered by a glass ceiling to keep the elements out during the rainy season but is not air conditioned.
Upstairs is another living and entertainment area decorated in more striking shades of red and grey and with impressive tall ceilings. Cantilevered doors on one side allow for a breezy through-flow of air as an alternative to air conditioning. Off to the left another ensuite master bedroom awaits, this one decorated in shades of dark maroon, grey and black and dominated by a four-poster bed. On the other side of the upstairs living area is a twin-bedded (can convert to king-size) room decorated in shades of green and brown. This room also has a daybed which can double as an extra bed for a child. The pebble-floored ensuites (not air conditioned) for both these rooms again have tubs and showers and are enclosed with glass ceilings. Both upstairs bedrooms open onto a breeze-washed terrace complete with comfy chairs.
The fourth bedroom is situated in a separate single-storey pavilion to the rear of the main house. Done in shades of turquoise, this room, also with a four-poster bed, is perfect for older relatives, or anyone who wants some private space. The ensuite is shower only.
A 12m swimming pool lies at the bottom of a gently sloping lawn, overlooking the rice paddies alongside a tree-lined river. A bar area, complete with bar stools and an outdoor wooden dining table and benches, sits adjacent to the pool beneath a roof that cantilevers to open to the sky.
