Tucked away down a lane off Bali’s trendiest strip, guests have easy access to a myriad of excellent restaurants, bars and shops. With this in mind, the owner has created a modern tropical home that provides a pleasant and soothing retreat away from the busy streets surrounding it.
The villa’s neutral tones, combined with teak wooden features, contrast beautifully against the garden’s green foliage and lawn. Tall bamboo and lemongrass conceal the outer walls, while coconut palms, orchids and frangipanis enhance the tropical ambiance. The air-conditioned bedrooms and semi-open bathrooms are tastefully furnished allowing for simple easy living with ample space and comfort. Orthopaedic beds guarantee guests a good night’s sleep after shopping up a storm or dancing the night away.
One of Sahana II’s greatest attributes is that it is managed by the owner, who lives nearby and is easily contactable if needed. Another benefit is that larger groups have the option of renting the villa together with its identical neighbour, Sahana Villa I. The friendly housekeeping staff can prepare simple meals (provisions on guest account), and the personal service is a nice touch in this busy urban centre where not many take time to slow down and smell the ...frangipanis!

Sahana Villa II is a neat and compact single-storey villa set behind high walls to ensure total privacy.
All three air-conditioned king-size bedrooms look out towards the pool and come with satellite TV and DVD players. Two of the rooms flank the open-plan, open-sided living and dining area and are tastefully decorated in neutral tones with teakwood finishings and large abstract paintings. The third bedroom is in a separate wooden joglo (antique Javanese house), injecting a traditional feel to the villa with its wooden floors, walls and roof contrasting nicely against white furniture and linens. The three ensuite bathrooms are semi-open-air, fitted with shower and wash basin, and feature a daybed and garden space to allow guests to really experience the tropical ambiance.
The open-sided living and dining space has been designed for easy living, with the L-shaped beige sofa covered in Sunbrella quick-dry material so guests can relax here after a dip in the pool. This area is cooled with ceiling fans and can be shaded from the afternoon heat by drawing down the white bamboo blinds. The teak dining table (seats ten) has bench-style seating accessorised with green silk cushions, and looks directly over the lush lawn and green-stone-lined pool. There’s no TV or music system in the living area itself, but there is a small stereo with iPod dock in the kitchen.
Directly behind the dining area the modern, open-plan, equipped kitchen is fitted with an island worktop that doubles as a breakfast bar and is surrounded by six cream leather bar stools. A separate toilet and laundry is found behind the kitchen.
Outside, three sun loungers and a shaded daybed provide the perfect place for guests to unwind by the two-tiered, 8 x 3m pool.
