Villa Sandat
The villa design fits in with the local village aesthetic while still giving guests a taste of the fine life. You know you are about to experience authentic Bali style as soon as you enter through the traditional Balinese gateway into the charming little garden courtyard with its 4m plunge pool. From here, your eye is drawn through the balustrades of the volcanic-rock boundary wall, across the fleet of fishermen's boats moored on the beach at the base of an old coral-stone Hindu temple, and out to the ocean beyond. The view also takes in the house temples of both Villa Sandat and the villa next door, giving you an enchantingly spiritual skyline. This is a real slice of Balinese life and one that will leave you with many memories.
The structural features blend with the landscape while the interiors are distinctly modern-classic Balinese with long luxuriant couches (one each), and an adequately-equipped kitchen for basic self-catering. A full-time cook provides breakfast (included in the rate) and is on hand to cook more substantial meals in the professional kitchen next door at Villa Tanjung Bunga. She will create Indonesian delights and simple international cuisine, with a focus on fresh healthy local ingredients, and serve them up in your own private dining area. The housekeeping team will shop for your groceries and keep the receipts for your reference, and a car and driver are available (at extra cost) if you wish to explore. The villa may seem remote but it is only 12km from Sanur where you can get your fix of cafés and shops and rid yourselves of your holiday spending cash.
At night Villa Sandat is beautifully lit and emits a warm and inviting yellow glow, which mixes with the sound of the waves and the night-time breezes to lull you into a deep state of relaxation before you retire to your dreamy four-poster bed.

Villa Sandat is characterised by smooth, richly-grained Yogya-stone floors and an abundance of teakwood fittings and wall cabinets. The architectural style is classic old-school Balinese, featuring a pitched tiled roof lined with split bamboo, colonial-style leaf-shaped ceiling fans, and cream interior walls, but don’t let this deceive you, the property was built in 2009.
The spacious, open-sided living and dining pavilion, cooled by ceiling fans, features a sitting area furnished with two large and comfortable bamboo sofas, an armchair and a low glass-topped coffee table. The open concept extends into a dining area, furnished with a circular marble table for four. Next to this, linked by a breakfast bar with two high stools, is an open-plan kitchen equipped with a dishwasher, fridge, single electric hob and a microwave. A washroom is positioned to one side. At the far end is a small courtyard, with a fish-filled lily pond and a bubbling urn completing a very serene picture, rich with the sounds of falling water.
The veranda wraps around to glass doors opening into a romantic bedroom offering both air conditioning and a ceiling fan. Here, from a four-poster, canopied queen-sized bed, one gets a sneaky glimpse of the ocean waves. The bedroom has a very homely feel, with shelves of books and magazines, a 31-inch flat-screen satellite-channel TV and DVD player with verdigris copper lamps, and a warm teakwood floor. A spacious walk-in dressing room rests to one side. The ensuite bathroom embraces ethnic charm with non-slip rough tumble marble floor and wall tiles extending into an open courtyard with a walk-in shower emanating from a bamboo pipe. And for those who prefer to shower indoors, there is also an indoor rain shower encased in a glass cubicle.
The garden courtyard is enclosed by a volcanic rock wall and features a 4m plunge pool as well as the house temple and a raised balé (relaxation pavilion) with sunbeds. A door from here connects to Villa Tanjung Bunga.
