Sava - Villa Aqua
At ground level, a large open-plan space houses the sea-breezy living room, dining room, media corner (with thousands of movies and music tracks available at the click of a remote, and speakers indoors and out) and a modern kitchen. It’s almost entirely enveloped by floor-to-ceiling glass doors that slide open to the deep blue infinity pool and wide terrace – perfect for languid sunbathing and sunset cocktails. The best sea views are found in the two master bedroom suites, which also feature inviting terrazzo bathtubs. Tucked away on the bottom floor near the entrance is a family room with flat-screen TV and DVD player.
Villa Aqua is staffed by a villa manager who takes care of all the villas on the estate, plus a full-time chef who specialises in Thai cuisine and seafood and a maid who helps serve the daily breakfast that’s included in the rate (maid and chef can live in or out according to guests’ preference). Other meals are easily arranged with provisions charged at cost, plus a shopping fee. Guests wishing to go sightseeing or to put on a special event have an eager and experienced management team at hand to assist; and there’s a gym on the estate for those determined to keep in bikini-ready shape while on holiday. Yoga instructors can also be arranged to give classes at the villa (extra charge applies).
Though this villa’s not directly on the beach, the sands of Natai are only steps away down a private path. Those desiring absolute beachfront and even more space can opt for five-bedroom Villa Malee Sai or six-bedroom Villas 2 and 4. Aside from other villas and the long, wind-swept beach, there’s little within walking distance of Villa Aqua, and car hire’s essential for those who wish to explore further afield.

Villa Aqua is as bright and white as the sands of Natai. A glass house topped by a long arched roof with an underside of rustic wood, it loosely resembles an upturned long-tail boat preparing to set sail. At the heart of the villa is an L-shaped open-plan area, dedicated mostly to the stylish living room complete with a giant U-shaped sofa and soft carpeting – ideal for taking it easy and enjoying the fresh sea breezes in luxuriant comfort. Just behind here is the modern guest kitchen in shimmering white with a full range of appliances. Despite its allure, this kitchen may well remain unused, thanks to the excellent chef who prepares meals in the second, more modest staff kitchen to the rear. Adjacent to the kitchen is a dining area (with table for eight) and the media corner, a cosy space with plush sofas and a lavish entertainment system with thousands of movies and music tracks to select from. This whole area opens onto the pool terrace, which features a lounging area furnished with chic white sun loungers at one end and a barbecue-dining area under the shade of a retractable awning close to the kitchen. Stretching out along the length of the terrace, reaching for the sea, is the 18m saltwater infinity pool.
The two master bedrooms occupy the front of the top floor, with the larger one enjoying three floor-to-ceiling glass walls for extra-wide sea views. Both feature balconies and bright bathrooms with terrazzo bathtubs, plus spongy king-sized beds where guests will long to linger and take in the above-mentioned panorama. The third bedroom (also king-bedded and with sea views), shares a bathroom with a twin-bedded room. These two rooms work well as a family suite and the twins can be joined to make a king if needed. On the villa’s bottom level is a family room with comfy furnishings and a big flat-screen TV with DVD player for a cool escape from the sun. Throughout the villa, bright artwork and a range of sea tones in the decor add an extra dash of life and vibrancy to an already uplifting modern design.
