Nirwana Golf Villas - Villa Senja

  • Location: Seseh-Tanah Lot
  • Number of bedrooms: 4
Within striking distance of the ocean and just a punch shot from the fairway, Villa Senja is on par with the champions. It is one of several private villas (which include Villa Arjuna, Villa Samudera, Ocean & Golf, Villa Bunda and Villa Ombak Nirwana) located at the 5-star Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali Resort (formerly Le Meridien) at Tanah Lot. If you’re visiting Bali with your family or with a par-tee of like-minded golf buddies, why would you want to stay at a hotel when – for the same price, per room – you can have a share of a fully-staffed villa right on the golf course?

Villa Senja features classic Balinese architecture, including thatched roofs, marble bathrooms and cream interiors. It comprises four bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a kitchen, and two delightful living and dining rooms, one of which is cosy, indoors and air conditioned, while the other is an open-sided pavilion, cooled in true tropical style by natural breezes and ceiling fans. This is complemented by a garden, plunge pool, balé relaxation pavilion and golf course views. Villa guests also have use of a swimming pool and kids pool just three minutes’ walk away – shared with the other villas within the complex.

Villa Senja has all the benefits of a villa – privacy, space, personalised service, bicycles, and a self-drive golf buggy – with access to the sports and leisure facilities of the Pan Pacific Resort (additional charges apply), including tennis, squash, a gym, kids’ club and swimming pools, and use of the resort's bars, restaurants, spa and business centre, plus discounted golf rates. In fact, Pan Pacific Nirwana was rated by Asian Golf Monthly as the No1 golf resort in Asia and voted by Golf International in the UK as one of the top 10 golf resorts to "Dream of and Head to” in the world.

When you arrive at Villa Senja, the staff will swing into action with their warm hospitality, teeing off with welcome drinks and cold towels, and following through with home-cooked meals chosen from the villa menu (provisions on guest account). After an invigorating round of golf, what could be better than going ‘home’ to Villa Senja – the Captain’s Choice!

The ‘Ace’ at Villa Senja is a classical Balinese pavilion positioned on the upper floor, accessed by an external staircase and linked to the two upstairs bedrooms by a bridge. This pavilion has no walls, just a soaring alang-alang thatched roof supported by wooden pillars above a rustic stone-tiled floor. Cooled by ceiling fans and natural breezes, and lit by glass lanterns, it is bounded by a wooden balustrade and has lovely views of the fairway. The charming colonial-style furnishings include a huge daybed, low stools and lazy chairs dressed in red and orange cushions. There is also a large coffee table, a modern solid wood dining table with eight rattan dining chairs, and an antique gerobok rice chest.

The air conditioned living and dining room is located on the ground floor. One end is furnished with a dining table for six, and the other with four very comfortable sofas around a low opium table, TV, DVD and VHS player. This comfortable and cosy room is accessorised with lanterns, lamps, local artefacts and a Balinese painting.

The master bedroom is also on the ground level, separated from the living room by a small courtyard with pond, stone-carvings, and a water feature. This spacious room is furnished with a double four-poster bed, desk and water-hyacinth chairs. There are two walk-in wardrobes, and an ensuite bathroom fashioned in cream marble with a large sunken tub, standing shower, and twin washbasins on marble-topped vanities. The two upstairs bedrooms have a wide wrap-around terrace on two sides complete with a sofa and pots of bougainvillea. One bedroom has a queen-size bed, and the other has twin beds, both have ensuite marble bathrooms with a walk-in shower. The fourth bedroom is on the ground floor, presenting a queen bed and ensuite bathroom with rain shower. All bedrooms are equipped with satellite-channel TVs.

The kitchen is tucked out of sight, simple and quite small but fully fitted and equipped with microwave, oven and four-burner hob. The garden is at the front, opening to the golf course, and boasting a plunge pool with a stone deck, and a balé relaxation pavilion with a thatched roof, mattress and cushions.
