Set high in the hills with a wide ocean vista, the three-bedroom Villa Thai B4 provides a tranquil retreat with all the attractions and entertainment options of Patong, Phuket's vibrant resort town, close at hand. On the upper floor of the villa's two levels, shaded terrace space and a private pool provide plenty of opportunity to relax and cool down, while just inside is an open-plan, very comfortably furnished living area, dining space and kitchen all under a soaring, Lanna-style roof with a skylight along its peak. Connected indoor-outdoor areas and abundant seating allow for entertaining 20 or more people comfortably. Folding glass doors and ceiling fans allow this level to be opened up completely to enjoy the tropical climate, but air-conditioning is also on offer should the afternoon heat prove too much. Families and groups are offered plenty of privacy in the downstairs bedrooms, with two large sea-view master suites plus one twin-bedded room (convertible to king-size), all with ensuite bathrooms.

Throughout the villa are tasteful accents and traditional Asian artwork, including a gorgeous Ganesha Hindu god statue. Everything appears solidly built and most of the wood furnishings are elegantly curved. Extensive use of teak and natural materials enhances the villa's look of understated luxury.

Villa Thai's infinity-edged private pool is a lovely, blue-tiled oasis set at the southwest side of the villa providing optimal ocean views. Nearby is the estate's club house, which has a large shared pool with magnificent ocean views and a children's pool. A pétanque pitch, pool table and a fitness centre with sauna are also found here, as well as a shop selling wine, beer, soft drinks and a selection of snacks.

As part of an immaculate collection of 25 villas in the L'Orchidée Residences luxury estate, efficient, professional service is provided by the estate's on-site management company. Daily maid and grounds service is included, while a dedicated in-villa maid and chef are available on request (extra charges apply). Most guests opt to order meals from the estate’s central kitchen or to self-cater. Other easily arranged services include in-villa massage, grocery shopping, tours/transport and babysitting.

The villa is divided into two levels, with the open-plan top floor providing a living area, fully-equipped kitchen and dining room leading out to the terrace and pool. Cooled by ceiling fans, shaded by a gorgeous teak roof and with unmatched views of the sea, the terrace is the perfect spot for enjoying breakfast alfresco. Outdoor seating for eight surround an oval dining table while six lounge chairs offer even more relaxation. Off to the side is the nine-metre infinity pool with elephant fountain statues set in a lovely walled garden space.

Inside, the living space is divided into two areas, with one section at the front next to the pool furnished with two silk chairs and a daybed, a nice area for some quiet reading. Behind, arranged around a 42-inch TV, is a cream chaise sofa and two lovely curved wooden lounge chairs. Silk pillows and carpets add a soft touch and colour. The modern western kitchen is stocked full of dishes, equipment and cooking supplies. In front is the indoor dining table, which seats eight. High ceilings and a skylight along the peak of the villa's roof give this room an added airiness and brightness while one-touch lighting control offers eight mood settings. The wooden staircase at the centre of the living area provides a grand exit to the bedrooms downstairs.

The three ensuite bedrooms' lower-level location offers a great deal of privacy. Two sea-view master suites, each with king-sized beds (one a four-poster), have jacuzzi bathtubs, two vanities and showers in their sparkling ensuites. The views from these bedrooms are superb, especially from the shared balcony that's partitioned for added privacy. A third bedroom, set at the back, offers flexibility for extended families or adult groups with twin beds that can convert into a king-sized bed and an ensuite bathroom with shower.

A single covered car parking space is provided at the villa with more parking available at the secured main entrance down the hill. Free buggy service to and from the villa is offered 24 hours a day.
