If you appreciate the myriad facilities offered by 5-Star resorts, but prefer not to compete for sunbed space, The Cove is an undeniable delight. From the full-size gym by the entrance, down to the outdoor cinema and the dedicated beachside massage sala (gazebo) with views across the shimmering bay, the villa offers every conceivable comfort and diversion.

A unique addition at The Cove is a six-bunk bedroom on the upper level that's part of what's essentially a children's private villa. Although it's a fair way down to the pool, having such generous, kid's quarters (including a twin-bedded room that’s ideal for a nanny) gives parents a breather and leaves youngsters to enjoy their own space. There’s a table tennis table for them in the well-equipped gym and even a dedicated AV room with sofas and bean bags poised in front of a huge flat screen TV (with satellite and DVD).

From the courtyard entrance at the top of the villa, there are a fair few steps to negotiate between each of the five levels, but your efforts will be rewarded. Below the kids’ accommodation, two chic, grass-roofed bedroom pavilions with spacious in and outdoor shower rooms offer a peaceful retreat, surrounded by soothing water features with stunning views from the king-size beds. On the third level down, private, lawned terraces front two more king-bedded rooms providing an idyllic sunbathing spot by day, with a pull down screen for alfresco cinematic viewing at night. The bright, expansive living, dining and ‘café' (large breakfast bar/bar area) level is a focal point to gather, eat and relax, the whole area opening onto a delicious 22m infinity pool and large, comfortable day sala. From the private master suite on the lower level you can hop straight onto the soft, beachside lawn for fun and games or wander down the gentle slope onto the sand.

An attentive team of four staff, including a full-time chef who makes the most of the modern, well-equipped kitchen (breakfast included but all other provisions on guest account) allow you to kick back at The Cove and absorb the ultimate personalised, resort-style experience on this secluded bay five minutes from bustling Chaweng.

Looking up at The Cove from the beach, the master suite opens onto a private terrace overlooking the villa's wide lawn, where steps lead to a dedicated massage sala right by the sea. The master suite – in common with all the other guest bedrooms apart from those in the kid’s pavilion - boasts a king-size bed, flat-screen TV and DVD player, walk-in wardrobe, iPod dock and speakers, air conditioning and ensuite bathroom (in this case, with a free-standing outdoor tub and large rain shower). Two thatched guest pavilions, above the living and pool level, share a lawned garden and sala. One bedroom has a free-standing tub in its ensuite, the other an outdoor shower with sea view. The garden on this level also houses a pull-down cinema screen with home theatre system and deck chairs for the perfect open-air movie experience. One level further up, bedroom pavilions four and five are both surrounded by soothing water features. Each has a private lawned garden with sun loungers overlooking the 180 degree views. Both ensuites feature indoor and outdoor rain showers. The final two bedrooms are located right at the top of the property in a two-storey pavilion with wonderful ocean vistas. The colourful children’s room (with ensuite shower room) has six bunk beds plus two further pull-out beds. Opposite is a twin bedded room, ideal for guest use or a nanny, which also has an attached shower room.

Both the gym and AV room are beneath the kids' bedroom, the former a large space with rowing machine, free weights and fitness balls, plus a table-tennis table. The latter has a 50-inch plasma screen (satellite and DVD) with comfortable sofas and poufs for relaxed viewing. The living and dining area, a level above the master suite, is fronted by glass doors opening directly onto the 22m infinity pool and lawned sun terrace. The entire area is fed by a vast iTunes collection that can be piped through the wall mounted speakers. Inside, a wooden dining table, encircled by chrome chairs, seats 12 (can be moved onto the terrace for alfresco dining if preferred), while the lounge boasts three comfortable white sofas, accessorised with colourful cushions, and a deep shag-pile rug. The fully equipped kitchen sits behind an innovative café space with a central island and four stools for informal dining. Beyond this there's a pool bathroom, plus a BBQ and courtyard that leads to spacious covered sala with built-in sofas and open sea views.
