Villa Thee Sahm Raan is one of 15 villas in the exclusive beachfront development, Maan Tawan, on Bang Tao Bay. The estate is a peaceful, beautifully landscaped escape. Scents of frangipani and jasmine fill the air, the garden is accented with the same rich reds, purples and pinks as the beautifully decorated interior. Large covered patios encourage the living areas to spill out onto the sandstone-tiled poolside resulting in a wonderful indoor/outdoor experience. The turquoise pool matches the pristine waters of Bang Tao Bay, which lies just a few hundred metres away and is home to Laguna Phuket, a collection of some of Phuket’s more exclusive beachside resorts.

Villa Thee Sahm Raan is an ideal family or group retreat. The open plan living is safe and functional for young families. The villa design takes full advantage of sea breezes and epitomises the relaxed luxury of tropical living. The downstairs living area provides large spaces for groups or families to relax and enjoy. Shaded poolside seating and the Thai sala entice. The ten metre pool is surrounded by sandstone walkways, grassed areas and beautifully manicured tropical gardens. Traditional teak doors and hangings along with lacquered “Tiffany blue” ceramic pots offset contemporary blinds and modern rattan outdoor furniture, in minimalist coffee and beige.

The villa’s ground floor has one bedroom, ample living areas and staff facilities including a twin bunked ‘maids’ room off the kitchen; three bedrooms and an “office enclave” complete the second level. All bedrooms have large ensuites. Outdoor living and eating areas are plentiful and practical. Villa staff carry out regular cleaning, a chef and driver are available on request for an extra charge and the Villa Manager is a phone call away to assist with simple requests you may have, alternatively a dedicate manager is available if required at an extra charge of about 30 USD a day. Maan Tawan is a gated estate with 24 hour manned security. Thee Sahm Raan means retreat, getaway, relaxing place – it is aptly named.

You enter Villa Thee Sahm Raan through traditional Thai teak doors and are greeted by beautifully manicured gardens filled with tropical delights. Though part of an estate, the villa is surprisingly quiet, the sound of water bubbling and flowing, birds calling and sea breezes punctuate the otherwise peaceful surrounds. The villa wraps around the pool to ensure that most rooms can enjoy maximum views. The ground floor is open and breezy and cleverly designed with large sliding doors to take full advantage of the breeze and pool view. The dining area is bright and airy with a beautiful hardwood dining table which seats ten comfortably (can seat 12). The adjoining kitchen is large, functional and fully equipped. A breakfast bar with stools provides the perfect spot for casual eating or for the children to grab a bite. Marble benchtops, gleaming appliances and wood cupboards will appease any conscientious chef. Coffee machines and wine fridges (wine available for purchase) provide a nice touch of luxury. The sunken lounge enjoys frontal views of the pool area. A 50” plasma television and expansive sofa provides the perfect haven to relax. The living room cabinets are packed with DVDs, board games and electronic toys. Silk cushions and bright local artwork accent this relaxed and comfortable space. Continuing the theme of an accessible outdoor lifestyle, the living area also extends to the rear of the property onto a European style “al fresco’ entertaining patio. An eight-to-ten seater dining table with large fixed shade is the perfect place to enjoy a family brunch or BBQ. On the poolside, a large shaded lounge area is relaxing and inviting. Also enjoying a poolside view is the ground level bedroom, with queen size bed and shower ensuite.

The master bedroom and the remaining two bedrooms are on the second floor. The bedroom at the rear of the house overlooks, via a small balcony, the estate pool which is open to villa guests. It has twin single beds (or king if pushed together), large dressing area and shower ensuite. The bedroom at the front of the house, with king size bed and shower ensuite, has large cathedral ceilings and pool views and a fabulous, expansive, breezy terrace. These bedrooms are spacious and functional. The master bedroom is magnificent. Enter by a huge terrace which overlooks the pool, sala and garden below, where the large sliding doors take full advantage of the sea breezes. Beautifully decorated in sea greens and blues, this large room is the perfect couples retreat. The full ensuite offers a large sunken bath and double shower. Each bedroom is equipped with flat panel TV (with cable / UBC channels available), DVD and home theatre systems. Roll away extra beds can be supplied for each bedroom as required. Bathrooms are beautifully presented, functional and expansive. Off the kitchen is a small ensuite bunk room designed for maids and house staff. The house has ceiling fans in all areas, is air-conditioned throughout and has WiFi. Doors lock internally and externally and sliding insect screens ensure that sea breezes can be enjoyed at night. Stairways are closed and safe. The laundry area is clean and functional with washing machine and dryer available.
