Laksmana Estate - Villa Wibisana
The rooms are housed in four contemporary Balinese pavilions on each corner of the site allowing maximum direct sunlight to reach the picturesque oval swimming pool which dominates the villa from every direction. Sun umbrellas and a cosy balé (gazebo) offer respite during the heat of the day or retreat to one of the rooms which are all air-conditioned. Finished in the finest Jati teak with dark wood blinds and local Palimanan stone each villa is topped with a traditional alang-alang (thatched) roof. Frangipani trees, Alpinia (ginger) and an assortment of palms give the gardens a lush natural feel enhanced by the various fountains.
In addition to the chef there are 4 attendants to serve and clean (24/7 if required), all managed by the villa manager who is there to ensure everything runs smoothly and make any arrangements that maybe required (for example spa treatments or car/driver hire). The staff presence (or not) is very much determined by the guest. The chef will handle the provisioning on the guests account for a small additional fee and the Laksmana Villas estate has 24 hour security.

Entry to Villa Wibisana is through ornate carved wood doors and down a rather ordinary hallway. Off the hall are a very chic and well equipped kitchen and the staff quarters. At this stage the main villa is still hidden from view. From the hall you enter the living room, one of four pavilions on each corner of the plot. The single storey pavilion has high vaulted ceilings, floors of local stone and is home to a plasma TV, DVD and stereo system. Here glass doors slide back to reveal a delightful decked oval pool which is the focus of the villa and is a positive suntrap.
The 3 large bedrooms, all with king beds and ensuite, are in two double storey pavilions at the back of the plot. The master pavilion has a quiet study downstairs with printer, fax, scanner, telephone and WiFi (which is throughout the villa). The study can double as a fourth bedroom if required. Access to the master bedroom is via an internal staircase through the study. The bedroom itself is huge with a vaulted ceiling. It is the only bedroom with an ensuite bath, circular in this case wonderfully lit from above by a dome. The second bedroom, equally huge, is on the top floor of the adjacent pavilion and is accessed through a back stair. At ground level is the final smaller (marginally) bedroom. All the bedrooms are fully air-conditioned and beautifully finished in teak woods with king beds, and quality linens. TVs and DVDs come as standard. Bathrooms are modern and functional with good showers and villa toiletries.
The final pavilion houses the dining room, the focus of which is a circular table for 8, and which also spills out onto the pool decking. There is also a small table for 4 for outside dining, perhaps a BBQ and a poolside balé.
