Set in five salas (pavilions) spilling down a rocky hillside towards the sea, Villa Yin offers a striking blend of nature, art and avant-garde facilities. Indeed, Villa Yin has been created as a showcase for its French owner's private art collection. In every direction, inside and out, there's something to bedazzle, from the outsized paintings by contemporary Chinese artists to the nine Marilyn Monroe Warhol portraits, to centuries-old Buddha statues, to blazing sunsets over the 19m grey marble infinity pool. Each of the four bedrooms is splashed with art, while the furnishings are objects of art in themselves, shaped into sexy curves in bold hues.

Outdoors, it's difficult to tell where the tropical landscaping ends and the jungle begins – it's all connected and beautifully balanced with lotus ponds and abundant terraces. Complete peace and relaxation is assured – the only sounds disturbing the silence are crashing waves, birdsong and the gurgle of water trickling over the swimming pool's edges. Taking the steep steps down to the ocean there's a real 'Garden of Eden' ambiance, leading to a shallow, rocky cove that you have all to yourself.

Located towards the end of the west-coast promontory dubbed 'Millionaires' Mile', Villa Yin has a very secluded feel, yet its full-time villa manager, maids and live-in chef are keen to ensure you're never left wanting and a concierge checks in regularly to ensure all’s well. The chef is a master of authentic Thai cuisine and can whip up tasty breakfasts and Italian meals too (provisions on guest account). In-villa massage treatments and transport (both extra) are also easily arranged on request. At Villa Yin's heart is its large sala housing the luxurious open living, dining and kitchen area. A vaulted teak roof and floor-to-ceiling windows allow plenty of natural light to emphasize the six red-suede dining chairs and other gorgeous furnishings, sculptures and objects d'art, as well as giving unfettered ocean views over the marble infinity pool that stretches across the terrace in front. The splashy kitchen's state-of-the art equipment make it a dream for entertaining, though it's difficult to imagine anyone would tire of the chef's dishes, which he prepares in the staff's quarters. A few steps across the terrace, past a massage bed, is a shaded deck with a large barbecue and pantry, plus two cushioned sofas and chairs set around a table, ideal for a casual outdoor meal or evening cocktails.

Downstairs is the sleek white media room, equipped with a movie projector, audio equipment and four leather lounge chairs. Four funky green-tiled chairs and a hanging acrylic 'bubble' chair offer additional seating. The media room shares a balcony with the 'orange' bedroom, a bright sea-view space with a double bed, ensuite bathroom with shower and walk-in wardrobe. Next is the 'blue' bedroom, a mirror image to the orange room that has, as its name suggests, vivid blue decorative accents and artwork.

Occupying a separate sala is Villa Yin's pièce de résistance, the master suite. Here's where the owner's personality and wildly creative vision really shine, with sexy, stylish black-and-red themed art and furnishings radiating throughout its bedroom, bathroom and study. Ever seen a giant Naomi Campbell nude photo? Here, you do, in one of the two toilet enclosures. Ever felt limited by having only one two-person bath? Here, you're not, since there's a second bath facing the sea outside on the terrace. Two luxurious bathroom vanities, an enormous dressing room that would make Imelda Marcos envious and wraparound terracing complete the fantasy design.

A fourth bedroom, in an L-shaped sala on the top level, provides a very private space with its own jacuzzi bath and living room with TV and pantry. Another quiet enclave is the open lounge area, also at the top level.
